Wetlands & Wildlife National Scenic Byway
Begin at K-4 and U.S. 281 in Hoisington. Anchored by Cheyenne Bottoms Wildlife Area on the north and Quivira National Wildlife Refuge (Stafford County) on the south, this 77-mile route through the Arkansas River Lowlands connects human and bird migratory paths and provides excellent bird-watching opportunities. The area is characterized by irregular hills and sand dunes created by the river as it winds its way through the Central Plains. Although the route doesn't go through any town, eight towns are easily accessible. Your route ends near St. John (Stafford County).
