Threshing Machine Canyon

From I-70 exit 135, 10½ miles south on K-147, 1 mile west on U, then 2½ miles south on 330. In 1867 American Indians attacked and killed freighters transporting a threshing machine along the Butterfield Overland Despatch route. The machine was set on fire and left in this canyon for many years. The names of late 1800s travelers are carved in the canyon bluffs. It's recommended to stop at the park office and ask for directions.
