Decatur County Last Indian Raid Museum

The events of the 1878 Indian raid in Kansas are told here from both the settler and Indian points of view. The tragedy unfolded on September 30, 1878, when Chiefs Dull Knife and Little Wolf and their Cheyenne warriors killed many settlers during their flight from the Oklahoma reservation to their native homelands in the north. In addition to its artifact and photo collections, the museum complex comprises 15 buildings. Memorial Day Weekend-Labor Day Weekend, Monday, Thursday, Friday 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1 – 4 p.m. Labor Day Weekend-Memorial Day Weekend, (main building only) Monday, Thursday, Friday 10 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1-4 p.m., weather permitting.
