Monarch Houses
Monarch Portland Cement Company was founded in 1908 and reorganized in 1913 as Monarch Cement Company. Three homes on S. 8th, across from the plant, are known as the Monarch Houses and were built in 1908 for the Monarch president and two other executives. Today descendants of H.F.G. Wulf, who took over the company in 1913, live in two of these beautiful concrete homes.
