Teter Rock
From the Teterville remnants, 1 mile south on a pasture driveway (look for signs to the Rock). Around the late 1870s James Teter piled rocks as a marker to guide pioneers searching for the Cottonwood River. Eventually the rocks were removed and used for construction materials. So in 1954 a 16-foot-tall rock slab was erected on this hilltop in honor of Teter. There’s something about this jagged and giant rock slicing through the Flint Hills skyscape that makes this a powerful Kansas site.
