Signal Oak

From U.S. 56, 1 mile north on 6th, ¼ mile east on State Lake, then ¾ mile north on E. 1750. From atop Santa Fe Ridge gaze across the picturesque Vinland Valley below. A plaque on this site states that in 1856 settlers hung lanterns in Signal Oak (an oak tree now long gone) to warn settlers at Blue Mound (10 miles to the north) that proslavery guerrillas were approaching.
