Linn County Frontier Military Historic Byway

A designated Kansas Scenic Byway, the Kansas section of the military road starts at the Oklahoma border and passes through Linn County as it goes north to its terminus at the junction of K-5 and K-7 in Leavenworth. Originally known as the Fort Leavenworth-Fort Gibson Military Road, this route was built in 1838-1840 to accommodate soldiers traveling between military posts.
