Tree Groupings
From western Reno County through Stafford County you'll notice unusual clumps of trees on the south side of U.S. 50. These plantings resulted from the Beautification Act of 1965, influenced by Lady Bird Johnson. The act provided for beautifying roadways by removing billboards, screening junkyards, and landscaping roadsides. The tree clumps in this area include Russian olive, golden raintree, conifer, Osage orange, and other varieties.
