Barton County Historical Museum

The museum complex includes a schoolhouse, depot, post office, Waupun windmill, 1873 stone house, blacksmith shop, 1898 church, and an implement building. The main museum interprets county history through theme displays, and additional exhibits recognize Great Bend’s famous citizens including filmmaker Oscar Micheaux, basketball star Jackie Stiles, and Nobel Prize winner Jack Kilby. A highlight is a 1950s Lustron home complete with period furnishings. April-October, Tuesday-Friday 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday 1-5 p.m.; November-March, Tuesday-Friday 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Admission charge.
