Woodson State Fishing Lake

From U.S. 75 in Yates Center, 7 miles southwest on U.S. 54, stairstep 3½ miles south on Grouse (becomes Hereford), then ¾ mile southwest on Fegan. The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) constructed this enchanting lake in 1933 on land donated by Ben Fegan. The old-timers know it as Lake Fegan, and they definitely know about the big fish here. The handiwork of the CCC is most noticeable in the stone on the dam. Information is available at the office on the west side of the lake. Note the decorative metal cutouts near the office.
