Westside Service Station and Riverside Motel

This former gas station and motel take you back to a time when Americans drove cross-country on smaller highways and through every small town along the way. Travelers needed roadside service stations, cafes, and lodging, which were sometimes combined into one property. This series of buildings was constructed in 1939 as a combination service station, cafe, and three cabins with carports. They were built in a regional architectural style known as Ozark Giraffe, a version of cobblestone-house construction. In the years that followed, larger cabins were added and smaller ones torn down. Today the buildings are a popular restaurant and bar known as Benny’s Westside. (NRHP)
