Iola Cemetery
From Washington, ½ mile west on Madison (U.S. 54). J.F. Colborn was a member of the town company organized to establish a new town—and he named it for his wife, Iola. The first tall monument along the cemetery’s center drive is a tribute to the town’s namesake. A Civil War memorial, dedicated in 1909 and standing at the north end of the cemetery, is one of only four white-bronze (cast zinc) statues in the state. Along the main road in block 1, lot 110, you’ll find the gravestone for none other than Cinderella. Well, Cinderella M. Anderson, that is.
