Howard R. Barnard
Barnard's life work was with rural schools, mainly in Rush County. He was an innovator and introduced his techniques at his experimental school, Entre Nous College ( see p. 442), which he started near McCracken. He went on to become a much beloved librarian at the LaCrosse High School and later the public library, which was named for him.
