Franklin County Courthouse

315 S. Main. This beautifully restored courthouse, designed by George Washburn, was completed in 1893. The Romanesque Revival structure has the distinction of being the oldest Washburn-designed courthouse in Kansas still standing. Inside you’ll find historical exhibits on the first floor and a polished oak staircase leading to the historic courtroom on the second floor. Outside, "Lady Justice" stands atop the courthouse between its two square towers. Gracing the grounds are the Charlie Norton "Buffalo Woman" bronze, sculptures of George Washburn and Tauy Jones, and a veterans memorial. Monday-Friday 8 a.m-4:30 p.m. (NRHP)
