Wetlands and Wildlife National Scenic Byway
Birds in flight by the thousands are best seen in the spring and fall months along this 77-mile byway connecting two of the world’s most significant natural wetlands—Quivira National Wildlife Refuge and Cheyenne Bottoms. Depending on the time of day and season you might witness thousands of shorebirds, waterfowl, and even spy a few endangered whooping cranes. This area is a natural wonderland for photographers, hikers, and bikers. Small towns along the route offer their own versions of rural culture to help make this an adventurous experience.
