Sand Creek Longhorn Cattle Crossing

Beside the sidewalk trail just east of the Ash Street Bridge, a plaque states that more than two million longhorn cattle crossed Sand Creek from 1867 to 1871 near this point at Ash and 8th. The crossing was on the Chisholm Trail, the cattle drive route from Texas to Kansas.
