Post Office Oak and Museum
22 E. Main. Although this 270-year-old bur oak died in 1990, the mighty tree is where Santa Fe Trail travelers left messages for each other about trail conditions. Today a canopy stands over the oak’s remains. The adjacent museum was originally a stone home built in 1864 that housed a commercial brewery. Inside, early medical equipment, railroad memorabilia, and a stickpin collection is displayed. Call ahead, 620.767.5413.
