Meade State Park and Fishing Lake
From Carthage (U.S. 54/160) in Meade, 8 miles south and 5 miles west on K-23. This was the first designated state lake in Kansas, carved out of the Turkey Track Ranch in 1927. Today the beautiful setting offers 80 acres of water for fishing, and more than 400 acres for camping, wildlife habitat, hiking, biking, and viewing a variety of eastern and western migratory birds. State park entrance charge. Cabins available, reservations required.
