Jack Kilby Plaza
The magnificent larger-than-life statue of Jack Kilby was sculpted by local artist Chet Cale. Kilby, a Great Bend native, invented the monolithic integrated circuit, known as the microchip, which paved the way for the modern information age. The sculpture includes Kilby and two children, which symbolizes the transmission of knowledge from one generation to the next. Kilby won a Nobel Prize in Physics for the invention.
