City Tree Farm
From Main, ¼ mile east on 4th, then north just before the Cottonwood River Bridge, and park on the dirt path. A large stone sign marks the tree farm, and from it you can see the 1,700 black walnut trees that were planted along the Cottonwood River in 2006. With help from the Kansas Forest Service, local volunteers planted this hardwood forest that will mature in 2060. At that time the city can sell the trees for their valued hardwood.
