Route 66, lead and zinc mining, Civil War battles, the Osage Indian tribe, and Mickey Mantle—you’ll find excellent interpretations of these and more historic events and people inside this 20,000-square-foot museum. One of the most unique displays is the world’s longest (1,100 feet) hand-carved wooden chain, carved from 1981 to 1994 by James Porter. Porter and his chain made an appearance on The Tonight Show in 1989.
