William Inge Collection
From Main, 1¾ miles south on S. 10th, then ½ mile west on College. One of America’s renowned playwrights, William Inge, a native of Independence, won a Pulitzer Prize for Picnic. His famous plays also include Splendor in the Grass; Come Back, Little Sheba; Bus Stop; and The Dark at the Top of the Stairs, all of which became successful motion pictures. The Inge Collection is in the Academic Building library and consists of motion picture lobby posters and cards, still pictures, press books, original manuscripts, and much more. Call ahead.
