Wichita-Sedgwick County Historical Museum

Start your journey of Wichita and Sedgwick County in the majestic 1892 limestone original city hall. Top-notch exhibits reflect early Wichita (when it attracted buffalo hunters and traders and became a wicked cowtown) and focus on Wichita’s automotive industry, oil’s enormous effect on city development, and the aviation industry that made Wichita the Air Capital of the World. The history of the Dockum Drug Store sit-ins and Wichita’s connection to the first electric guitar are among the lesser-known but equally interesting stories examined. Tuesday-Friday 11 a.m.-4 p.m.; Saturday-Sunday 1-5 p.m. Admission charge.
