Prairie Passage Stone Sculpture Garden
Eight limestone pylons represent prominent individuals throughout Emporia's history. Designed by Emporian Richard Stauffer, the monoliths were carved by the Kansas Sculptors Association team in 1992. The figures include William Allen White (8 Wonders of Kansas - People), internationally known editor of the Emporia Gazette; Alahe, an American Indian representing the "people of the east wind;" Nathaniel Lyon, a Civil War general for whom Lyon County was named; and Preston B. Plumb, an Emporia founder and U.S. Senator.
