Nature Center and Aquariums

From Main, 2½ miles east, then 1 mile south on 25. Tall cottonwoods surround the Pratt Education Center that Professor Lewis L. Dyche started as a fish culture school for KU students in 1913. The two-story brick building operated by the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism provides a great opportunity to learn about Kansas wildlife through displays of live and preserved animals. A grassland exhibit explores wildlife common to different grass regions, and the 12 aquariums include fish species native to our state. Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Due to staff shortage, call ahead to verify hours.
