Kropp Land Monument
From Main in Lakin, 7½ miles west on U.S. 50, then just north on J. In 1936 Vernon Kropp, a funeral director from Texas, erected this large gray granite monument to help him locate land he had purchased. To make it uniquely his, the monument was regally adorned with his initials VK, a fancy family crest, and the Latin phrase “Vitam Impendere Vero,” which means “To Devote One’s Life to Truth."
