1205 Main. North of the library, a marker relates the importance of the Walker Army Airfield. This WWII base, 12 1/2 miles northwest of Hays, operated from 1942 to 1946. A Statue of Liberty replica erected in 1950 by the Boy Scouts stands just north of the airfield sign.
