Maple and 4th. Believe it or not, Codell garnered "Ripley’s Believe It or Not" fame because it was hit by a tornado on May 20 three years in succession—1916, 1917, and 1918. The last tornado wiped out a large part of town, and it never fully recovered. The marker at Maple and 4th tells Codell’s unfortunate story.
