Charles Curtis House Museum
1101 SW Topeka. Future Topeka mayor J.C. Wilson built this Italianate style residence in 1878, and later a Topeka architect added the Moorish domes and terra cotta carvings. The house was Charles Curtis’ official Topeka residence during the years he served as U.S. Senate majority leader (1925-1929) and as U.S. vice president (1929-1933). Curtis, a Topeka native, is the only American Indian to have held the office of vice president. Saturday 11 a.m.-5 p.m. (NRHP)
