Carl and Alma Swensson
A statue of Carl Aaron Swensson, founder of Bethany College in 1881, stands on a large limestone base on 1st, just north of Olsson. Carl's wife, Alma, was a founder of Bethany's Messiah Festival in which a large chorus and orchestra have performed Handel's masterwork for more than 130 years.
