Brown's Park and Memorial Home
1974 Hawk. From Abilene, 1½ miles south on K-15, east on 2000 (first paved road south of river bridge), and follow the signs. C.L. Brown, founder of became Sprint (now owned by T-Mobile), built this still-operating retirement facility in 1928 as a memorial to his parents. You are welcome to stop at this historic home and ask for a tour. During daylight hours you may drive through this serene area even beyond the “private property” sign. Along the park’s curving roads you’ll see the stone buildings used as a backdrop for the Easter Sunrise Pageant that started in 1946, a Boy Scout camp, disc golf course, and nature trails.
