Bois d'Arc and the Little Walnut River Pratt Truss Bridge
From U.S. 400 in Augusta, 7 miles south on U.S. 77, 2½ miles east on 170, 1¼ miles north on Hopkins Switch, then ¾ mile east on 157 Terr. Here you’ll come face to face with the only remaining building (an abandoned 1890s limestone structure) of Bois d’Arc, a little village settled in 1867. Turn south to cross the bridge over the Little Walnut River. This 102-foot-long 1885 truss bridge with wooden plank surface is for one-way traffic. Go slow, hold your breath, and drive across—then do it again! (NRHP)
