Wichita Art Museum
Cross an enthralling walkway of brightly colored, intermingled glasswork by Dale Chihuly to reach one of the finest art exhibits in the country. The collection comprises more than 10,000 pieces with an emphasis in exceptional American art. A quality hands-on interactive area is a fascinating learning experience for kids. A cafe offers a light lunch menu, and the Art Garden melds art and nature for a peaceful outdoor retreat. The Tom Otterness sculpture on the south side of the building disturbs the tranquility a bit as it depicts the fragmented body parts of two giant figures as they are overcome by chubby little characters. Wednesday-Thursday and Saturday-Sunday 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Friday 10 a.m.-9 p.m.
