Sawhill Park
301 E. Washington. On the site of the county's first courthouse, the park and the band shell were completed in 1934 by WPA workers. Howard Sawhill, for whom the park is named, designed it around the large center fountain. But perhaps the most unique feature is the art deco horseshoe-shaped concrete amphitheater. Sawhill, an artist by education, would be pleased to see the new modern sculptures that dot the grounds. Sawhill's case of drafting tools that he used to design the park can be seen at the Cheyenne County Museum. (NRHP)
