Today’s Santa Fe Avenue follows the old trail, which roughly parallels K-31 heading west over the hill and out of town. Santa Fe Trail evidence is visible west of Burlingame on K-31—a sign marks wagon ruts along the south side, just east of the ruts are remnants of Havana Stage Station, and a DAR marker stands on the north side of the highway.
