Hoglund Dugout
From Main, 1½ miles west on Swensson, then ¼ mile south on 12. We doubt you’d like to live and raise your family in a 6x12-foot dugout for six years like early Swedish pioneer Gustaf Hoglund did from 1868 to 1875. Legend has it that the family used its wagon for the roof. Later Gustaf and his wife, Maria, built a frame house over their underground nest and used the dugout for the cellar. The dugout is still visible.
