Fall River Lake and State Park

From U.S. 400, 1 mile north on Lake, then continue ¾ mile north on 534. The Fall River reservoir dam was completed in 1949 to diminish flood damage. Positioned between the cross timber area of the Chautauqua Hills to the east and the grasslands of the Flint Hills to the west, this area supports forested flood plains, blackjack oaks, and tallgrass prairie. Canoeing is popular here and mountain bikers will find two challenging trails. State park entrance charge. Cabins available. Reservations required.
