Bala Stone Bridge and Park

From Riley, 5 miles west on U.S. 77, ¼ mile north on K-82, 1 mile west on Bala, just south on Lasita, then south and west on a driveway and follow the sign to Bala Park. Enter the park through a rustic gateway and walk under the tall trees past playground and picnic areas, and suddenly there it is—a grand stone single-arch bridge with a 30-foot span! Built in 1887 as a rail line trestle, the rail line is now abandoned, but the bridge survives and is aging gracefully among the trees and the creek flowing beneath it. The area is one of the top explorer stops in the state, and everyone respectful of this privately owned property is welcome to enjoy it.
