Ashland Grade School (NRHP) at 210 W. 7th was constructed in 1937 through the Public Works Administration program. Erected by the WPA, a separate federal program, are the county highway department building (Highland and 10th) and the Girl Scout Little House ( NRHP 448 W. 6th). Both were built with locally quarried stone in 1937. The Girl Scouts still meet in their Little House.
