The Farmhouse
407 S. Van Buren. From downtown, 1½ miles west on NW 3rd, then ½ mile south on Van Buren (Old U.S. 40). Formerly famous as Lena’s, this hilltop restaurant (still in the original white farmhouse) has hosted such satisfied customers as President Eisenhower. Lena used to paddle guests on their birthdays, and even Eisenhower wasn’t immune for his 75th! The paddle, signed by Eisenhower, still hangs on the wall. Lunch is lighter fare; dinner includes steaks, chicken, seafood, and evening specials. Tuesday-Saturday 11a.m.-2 p.m. and 5-9 p.m.; Sunday 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
