Smoky Valley Scenic Byway

From WaKeeney, 26 miles south on U.S. 283, 9 miles east on K-4, then 25 miles north on K-147. This 60-mile official state scenic byway through the Smoky Hill River Valley and High Plains shortgrass prairie introduces you to beautiful wildflowers, rock outcroppings, and cropland, and to the Wilcox School (NRHP) and the Swedish Lutheran Emanuel Church. The picturesque Cedar Bluff Lake is the landscape highlight of this drive.
