Kanza Lodge
From Main, 3 ¾ miles north on 2nd (becomes Sedgewick), then 1 mile east on 314. Prior to white settlement the Kanza tribe controlled much of what would become Kansas. Their main colony was in this area of Independence Creek (8 Wonders of Kansas - History). A lodge using the same available building materials and design that the Kanzas would have used has been re-created on this site. The interior can be viewed through a gated doorway, and interpretive signage tells you the story of the Kanza nation and the Lewis and Clark Expedition in this region.
