Brown Mansion

See how the wealthy lived in the early 1900s by touring this stunning mansion built in 1904 for W.P. Brown, the area’s natural gas magnate. The Brown family lived here until 1973, when they sold the mansion to the local historical society leaving all of the original furniture, china, and furnishings inside. A 60-minute tour shares the magnificence of this mansion, from its third-story gymnasium to its signed Tiffany chandelier. The Browns are buried in Elmwood Cemetery. March-November, Tuesday-Saturday, tours at 1 and 3 p.m. Call ahead. (NRHP)
